I really love it when designers go back to the heritage of a product. I found this beautiful redesign of the well known Higgings India Ink designed by Alex Sophocles.
“The heritage of the Higgins India Ink dates back to 1888, so the elementary logo and the plastic bottle had to go. The result is a hand crafted, carefully stained wooden box containing an artisan-intended calligraphy kit with an aesthetic that fits the bill.”
The redesign of the logo brings back the heritage of the product and the way it is packaged makes it look like something out of the olden days. Upgrading the bottle from the old plastic bottle (seen below) to the new glass bottle brings completion into the design. I would really love to have this collectors item in my house.
